Gerard Butler has once again put his Los Angeles-area home on the rental market. This time around, the price per month for the Los Feliz residence is $17.5k, up a bit from the $15K per month rent it asked back in 2016.

The house dates to the 1930s, making it a fairly late Spanish Eclectic. From the street, what is visible is a garage with a tile roof and a door with a pair of formidable-looking, battle-ready iron-protected portals, and the observatory that crowns the home’s turret; it rises up behind like a curious observer of the outer world. An ivy-covered stone wall with an arched timber door opens to what one could only conclude to be a sanctuary.

For the most part, the property makes good on that impressive prologue. Abundant stone, a wide variety of window shapes, an exterior staircase with tile treats and painted risers, and a courtyard with lush plantings and a stone fireplace all leads up to a recessed entry inset with a front door in wrought-iron, glass and wood.

The interiors of the four-bedroom house are packed with details, including plentiful terra-cotta tile, plank oak, exposed beams, arches, fireplaces, and a spiral staircase. The details become especially heavy in the living room and dining room; the latter’s painted ceiling makes the space remarkable. Views are excellent—especially, of course, from the observatory room. Renovations sneak in here and there, but generally defer to the original details.

Upcoming features starring Butler include this year’s Greenland. The movie is scheduled for release in June.
