What did the holidays bring for media maven Jonah Peretti? Unknown. But the Buzzfeed co-founder did pick up this updated traditional-modern in Los Angeles for $5.2 million.
The house is located in Los Feliz. It dates to 1950, but it’s had a very recent—and comprehensive—interior revision. Its interior living style is now thoroughgoingly 2010s, with an absence of ornament, a moody tonal scheme, and plentiful optional glass.
The home’s living area is dominated by a stark poured concrete fireplace accent wall that rises floor to ceiling; the dining room receives a fireplace, too, in marble, with a flush hearth step. For its part, the kitchen boasts a welcome splash of color—a variation on Caribbean blue—which adds a little whimsy to the whole; the office/creative workspace, however, is a more serious composition that uses dark tones to great effect.
Space is adequate. The property lot size is a not-bad third of an acre—or just under that—and the home gets in nearly 4,800 square feet of interiors; five bedrooms and six baths indicate it’s allegiance to an ideal of family life over that of entertaining. Outside, the pool area is decked in bangkirai, a nice touch; the infinity design is, too, allowing for a perspective merging city views and private property.
