Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White Sells Superb Malibu Spot for $11.8M

Back in 2013, professional snowboarder Shaun White began building a two-property compound in Malibu when he picked up this traditional beach house for a little less than nine mil. White has dabbled fairly frequently in the buying and selling of properties, though, and the real-estate restlessness brought the connected properties to the open market earlier in the year.

Last year, White had been interested in finding a tenant for the place, and first listed it as a rental in 2018 for $22K per month. But the tide changed by this summer, when the homes both appeared on the market at the same time. The smaller was listed with an asking price of $12.5 million; the house in question was priced at $14.5 million. A particularly well-heeled buyer could pick up both for $27.3 million, and have a two-acre buffer zone in Point Dume to boot.

The larger of the pair did sell, but at a substantial discount over the ask; White accepted an offer of less than $12 million in the days leading up to Christmas for the bright, casually rustic Malibu escape.

The three-bed, four-bath home’s interiors feature an extended, semi-vaulted ceiling, an open living space with a step-down layout that follows the contour of the land, and glass walls looking out over the Pacific. The 2,700 square feet of living space includes distressed hardwood, multiple fireplaces, and an antique-style kitchen with a window seat.

The buyer, according to Variety, is Fiserv CEO Jeff Yabuki. He owns a house three doors down and apparently just created a little compound of his own.

White is a three-time Olympic gold medalist.
