George Lucas augmented his beachfront property in the quiet and very pricey community of Carpinteria, California, this month when he dropped $28 million to pick up a neighboring house.
Only aerial shots are available of Lucas’ old and new homes in the city. According to Variety, the new addition to the Lucas Carpinteria estate is a Cape Cod-style residence with a guest house and barn—more importantly, the property extends to about two acres, increasing Lucas’ privacy buffer.
Lucas has owned the first of the two beach houses in Carpinteria for about a decade. The little seaside city is well-known as a peaceful burgh for the successful celebrity, with stratospheric property values keeping residency very, very exclusive; the Star Wars creator spent $20 million in Carpinteria the first time around.
Regular readers may remember Kevin Costner’s 10-acre oceanfront property in Carpinteria, which went up for sale in 2017 for $60 million, and Ellen DeGeneres’ and Portia di Rossi’s 2017, $18.5 million purchase of a beachfront in the city which sold this summer to cosmetics queen Jamie Kern Lima for $23 million.
Lucas’ net worth is north of $6 billion.
