A year into their marriage finds Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra putting down substantially expensive domestic roots in Encino. This month, the couple signed papers and handed over $20 million for an estate in the fully and irreversibly gentrified retreat in the San Fernando Valley.
One benefit of buying an estate in Encino: twenty mil will still buy you a nice chunk of land to go with your mansion. The couple’s new property extends to three acres, enough to provide a pleasing sanctuary feel and a great deal of privacy.
The house was completed this year, and designed to pack in as many bells and whistles as possible. A two-lane bowling alley with scoreboard, an indoor basketball half-court, an auto gallery, a fitness room, a home theater with stadium seating, and a lounge with wet bar are among the home’s amenities.
The architecture divides the house into upper and lower sections. The shared living spaces in the upper section include a cavernous great room that boasts a catwalk, plank accents, cluster pendant lighting, and a massive wall of windows—the sense of scale is arresting. Indoor plantings and a massive green exterior terrace effectively blur the interior/exterior demarcations.
Jonas and Chopra were wed in early December of last year. Their recent purchase comes in tandem with Nick’s brother Joe Jonas’ purchase of a new estate in Encino only a short distance away.
