Jennifer Lawrence Asking Below-Purchase $14.3M for Manhattan Penthouse

Jennifer Lawrence listed her penthouse in the Laurel, a residential building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The unit is the crown jewel of the 30-story, 128-residence building, and is priced accordingly: $14.25 million.

What the fifteen mil buys is an extraordinary flat: a 4,073 square-foot condo with outdoor terrace space measuring some 3,000 square feet. The building dates to 2005, and the penthouse’s interiors appear contemporary and literate, favoring scale, lighting and fundamental contrast to excessive material flash.

The understated approach allows details like the figured maple tray ceiling in the dining room to stand out in relief, but it’s space that matters most, and the great room’s 53’ length and abundant glass make for an intensely open experience that offers the city itself as décor. The layout is logical, with a hallway acting as both mode of transition and privacy demarcation, with shared living areas on one side and bedrooms on the other.

Of bedrooms, there are three; a large master receives one of the five baths in the unit. Windows—and what’s outside of them—again take contextual precedence; open-air city views may be enjoyed, when weather permits, on the terrace accessible via a sliding glass door.

The terrace complex is also accessible via the great room. It is designed as a two-level living area, with a main level terrace extending to a somewhat larger expanse on the roof. A fireplace, a lawn, a grille station, plantings, and a pergola are divided between the two levels.
