Diane Keaton’s old Spanish Colonial Revival came up for sale this week with an ask of $17.995 million. The current owner of the property is journalist-turned-producer and director Ryan Murphy, who bought it from the Academy Award-winning actress in 2010.

The seven-bedroom house dates to 1927, and was designed by Ralph Flewelling—right down to the fountain centerpiece of the central courtyard. Murphy brought in Cliff Fong, owner of Matt Blacke studio, to revise the home. The revision was executed with astonishing sensitivity.

The interiors feature a series of motifs, most notably in a series of lantern pendant and chandelier fixtures in ornate iron and what could be slag glass or mica; heavy-handed, but entrancing. Original standout details include hand-painted tile staircase risers, terra-cotta tile floors, open-trussed ceilings, narrow-plank hardwood floors, built-ins, leaded glass, and a quintet of fireplaces, each of which receives a strikingly individual design treatment.
