This month, snowboarding star and savvy real-estate flipper Shaun White listed his two connected properties in Malibu for sale. The two properties are priced at $12.75 million and $14.5 million; just over $27 million buys a pair of residences—and over two acres of land—on Point Dume.
Followers of the high-end SoCal real-estate market may remember one of the homes from its brief recent foray into the rental marketplace; the house was offered for potential new tenants last summer at $22.5K per month, and is now priced for potential new owners at $12.75 million.
The boxy traditional dates to the late 1940’s, and has three bedrooms and 2 baths in its 2,164 square feet. The interiors are neutral but for the warm plank floors, presenting the ocean and green lot outside the windows to best effect. There aren’t a lot of distractions inside the home, and the end result is an uncluttered feel that comes off as soothingly meditative. And the lot is unusual for the area, in that its layout offers a bit of breathing room, with a long swath of green sloping away toward the beach.
Next door, and priced at $14.5 million, is an early-1950s modern-inflected ranch; it offers a very similar living style, but is a bit more stylized. The step-down design of the open-concept common area gives the home a nice sense of progression, and tongue-and-groove ceilings add a bit of cottagey charm that keeps the living style extremely casual.
The home contains three bedrooms and four baths in its 2,175 square feet. The vintage-style kitchen is wonderful, with a window seat adding just the right dash of cozy. The property exterior features a detached spa-like suite up the hill, as well as stone walking paths, gardens, patios, lawns, and a tree-shaded wood deck overlooking the beach below.
