British director Duncan Jones recently listed his Los Angeles-area home for $1.745 million.

The BAFTA award-winning creative picked up the Los Angeles-area property for $1.519 million in 2014. But he’s since decamped for Sherman Oaks, so on the market goes this warm, traditional, unpretentious Hollywood Hills residence.

Fairly rustic in style, the 2,062-square-foot home was originally built in 1935. The home’s farmhouse-inflected style includes vaulted ceilings and updated hardwood floors. The tile floors appear to be original, and are spectacularly substantial, giving the home an effortless sense of authenticity.

The main gathering space is the living room, which features an all-white vaulted and beamed ceiling, and a central fireplace set with earth-tone tiles. The kitchen boasts a center island, a top-of-the-line range, slate tile floors, and space for a casual dining table.

The outdoor living space is a beaut. Tiers of terraced, slate patios descend to a swimming pool with a waterfall feature and spa, packing in abundant outdoor living, cooking and dining space along the way; the casual, comfortable spot is presided over by an ancient tree that gives the property a lilting historical context. Very nice.

Jones directed Warcraft—a mega-production with a budget of $160 million. The film grossed over $430 million worldwide.
