Musician Paul Simon has listed his estate in Fairfield County, Connecticut, for sale for $13.9 million. The versatile singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has owned the home in New Canaan with his wife—New Bohemian Edie Brickell—for almost two decades.

The house dates to 1938, and features Georgian architecture; its whitewashed brick exterior is wreathing pleasingly well, and looks as aristocratic as any Fairfield County elder statesman of a residential property. It is framed by mature trees and stone walls, and flanked by a classic circular drive. A modest portico entry supported by a pair of columns offers invitation, and a circular ornamental window and slate roof further distinguish the façade with blue-blooded period charm.

There are six bedrooms and ten baths in the house. The consolations of the shared living spaces are many: crown moldings, original plank hardwood, floor-to-ceiling built-ins, abundant light, and a solarium room are a few highlights. The kitchen is a gem, with a lengthy island and breakfast bar presided over by a quartet of diversely dressed pendants.

There are an additional two structures on the property: a 2,400 square-foot guest house that is presently purposed as a music studio, and a 3-car garage. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel formed Simon & Garfunkel in 1956; Simon was the songwriting wiz. Three of their songs reached number one on the U.S. singles charts: “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “Bridge over Troubled Water.” Simon went on to have a successful solo career after the pair split up in 1970. He is the recipient of sixteen Grammy Awards.
