Norton Shows Off New Atlas 650 Scramblers With Nomad and Ranger Models

The fabled Atlas is back.

British bike builder Norton recently introduced two bikes to revive the model name. They’re called the Nomad and the Ranger, and they carry the spirit of the original well: high handlebars and a spectacular sense of proportion give the bikes an intoxicating, classic look.

Both scramblers receive 650cc engines derived from Norton‘s incredible 1200cc V4 RR carbon superbike. The parallel twin produces 84 hp and 47.2 lb-ft of torque resulting in up to 11,000 rpm.

But, again, the emphasis is on how expertly Norton managed to conjure the past, and merge it with contemporary relevance. Each new bike takes on a neo-retro look thanks to a mix of features like sleek body lines, twin-tube frames, and LED headlights. The upper level Ranger’s off-road-friendly additions include a bash plate, flyscreen, radiator protection, high front fender, and headlight protector.

The Nomad is far more road-oriented. The wanderer of the duo gets a shorter wheelbase, a traditional front fender, and 18/17-inch spoked wheels.

Interested motorcycle classicists can pre-order a new Atlas now.
