Robert Redford and his wife Sibylle have listed the Napa Valley-area retreat they’ve owned for nearly a decade and a half. The couple picked up the hideaway in Saint Helena in 2004.

The estate, called Danza del Sol—yup, that translates to ‘sun dance’—is anchored by a 5,255 square-foot main home; the house contains just three bedrooms, with the lion’s share of the interiors given over to a meditative ramble of shared living spaces.

The home is nestled in a forested corner of the little town, and features modified Spanish-style architecture, with stucco, fieldstone, and a great deal of glass. The home’s interiors extend to a little over 5,250 square feet, and are generally understated, with tongue-in-groove ceilings, raw wood, built-ins, natural-finished floors, and fireplaces.

Standout spaces include the kitchen—which is tastefully low-key, with a bright and open-feeling sense of utility—and the living room, which looks out onto the nearby hills through the lush landscaping. But the home’s coolest room may be the detached studio, a little building clad in vertical clapboard with a pair of garage doors and a vaulted ceiling.

The property itself is a considerable slice—over ten acres—and works in stone walking paths, paver patios, stone walls, gardens, a redwood spa, and a pool to present a living style distinguished by an extremely private and sylvan aesthetic.

Redford has announced that he’s retiring from acting; his final film is ‘The Old Man and the Gun,’ which also stars Sissy Spacek.
