It took Bruce Willis the better part of a decade to see his escapist estate in the Sun Valley area into the sunset, but sell it he did. The initial asking price is a long-gone starry-eyed dream of $15 million, but the $5.495 million offer Willis accepted for the property this month ends a protracted marketing process during which the home had been listed and relisted half a dozen times or more.

Willis purchased the home in 2003, and immediately set about revising it. As it now stands, the main house is essentially a custom rebuild.

The property is located near Hailey, Idaho, where Willis began buying property in the late 1980’s with his wife at the time, Demi Moore. The area was a recreational hub for the stars, and then a small obsession; Willis also owned a nightclub and numerous other residential and commercial properties in the area during his decade-long love affair with the small town.

This property is anchored by the large rustic main house, which measures almost 8,500 square feet. Highlights of the glassy, spacious home include a stacked-stone fireplace, wood support columns, and wide-plank walnut floors. The home’s six bedrooms include a 2,000 square-foot master suite.

A guest house on the property adds another 1,500 square feet of interior living space, but the central attraction outdoors is a pool with water features, a grotto, and waterslides. The lot was also a work-in-progress for Willis; he added to it over the years, and it now extends to well over 20 acres of land.
