Following the theft of his ultra-rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, bereaved owner Thomas Rosier is offering a $284,000 reward for its safe return.

Rosier says the Gullwing was taken sometime in the early morning of August 11 from the curb outside the Dorin Hotel. The classic Gullwing was in Nürburg to participate in the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the legendary Nurburgring track.

The 300SL is an instantly recognizable car. The design was absolutely futuristic in its day, and its design is still relevant; it has informed several AMG models of the past two decades. It boasts a chopped roof, signature vents, and an aggressive nose. Custom bumpers, yellow fog lights, and an ostrich leather interior complete the vehicle’s custom look.

Th car is estimated to be worth $2 million.
