Hollywood producer Joel Silver has accepted an offer of $40 million for his Malibu, California, estate. The house is located on almost 3/4 of an acre of water frontage on Carbon Beach.
The five-bedroom, six-bath main home makes an imposing first impression. It’s a little heavy-handed in execution, with angles-a-plenty, abundant glass, and brick adding to the emphatic architecture.
A circular driveway and courtyard provides a prologue. Inside, open-concept living areas offer plenty of natural light and nearly constant views of the beach. The interiors are quite warm, with red brick, dark wood, and hexagonal terra-cotta tile bringing a great deal of textural diversity to the fore. Skylights lend a feeling of liberation.
Naturally, though, guests and residents alike will be drawn out back to the expansive beachfront grounds. Sprawling patios stretch out toward the beach offering space to lounge. A tennis court and pool and spa offer recreational diversion, and there is a detached two-and-two guest house on the property.
Silver is best known for his work on blockbuster franchises, including “Lethal Weapon,” “Predator,” “The Matrix,” and “Die Hard” series films.
