Following the successful 2016 introduction of their I-Pace Concept, JLR is fully entering the all-electric market with the production of its I-Pace Crossover.

The British carmaker’s  SUEV is sure to rival other EVs on looks alone; like the F-Pace, the I-Pace resembles nothing else on the road, and that’s a powerful buying incentive for anyone who has ever felt lost in the ubiquitous curves and cross-pollinating common denominator design language of contemporary models in this class. The low stance, curved back windows, and ultra-sleek aerodynamic shape that’s undeniably Euro and just as undeniably singular. These are Ian Callum’s designs, and he’s on a mission to keep the Jag distinguishable from the masses while still relevant as stylistically contemporary.

The all-wheel-drive I-Pace packs plenty of power, though, and can make the zero-to-60 mph leap in 4.5 seconds, not bad for the soccer mom on a mission. The juice comes from in-house twin electric motors paired with a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

A 240-mile range speaks to touring as well as more mundane work-and-errand contexts, and ultra-fast charging keeps the I-Pace on the road more often than at the station: the I-Pace can reach 80-percent charge in just 40 minutes with a public 100-kW DC rapid charger. At home, with a regular outlet, the vehicle charges fully in a little over 10 hours.

Pricing has yet to be announced. Jaguar plans to start shipping the I-Pace to U.S. shores in the second half of the year.
