About three weeks ago, Joan Collins and Percy Gibson parted with $2.1 million to take possession of a new condominium unit in the Wilshire Corridor. The couple’s most recent real estate acquisition is a third-floor flat apartment measuring 3037 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths throughout. The property had been listed at $2.195 million prior to the sale.
The unit’s double-door entry and dramatic foyer set the tone for the apartment: it is spacious, formal, and light-filled, with a clean modern design aesthetic which presents a fairly austere atmosphere. A quick glance reveals top-flight materials; the kitchen is especially appealing, with nicely contrasted stone floors and countertops, a layout that presents an excellent sense of flow, and a breakfast bar and dayroom for an expansive feel.
The stone flooring is picked up in the master bath, which features a central, raised Jacuzzi tub, a private soaking tub room. All three bedrooms are en-suite, and, like much of the rest of the apartment, feature dark-finished hardwood floors. The home never commits itself to warm or cool toning, instead finding expression in contrasts. The high ceilings are modern-inspired, with geometry and dramatic tray effects emphasizing a somewhat uncompromising interior architecture.
Joan Collins was made a DBE by Queen Elizabeth in 2015. She and Gibson, who is a sometime film producer, married in 2002.
