Executive Gary Krisel, who has worked for both Disney and Dreamworks, has listed his Malibu beachfront home for sale. Krisel is looking for $7.9 million for the home, a Cape Cod-inspired cottage-style house that extends to a little more than 3,400 square feet.
The house dates to 1972, and contains three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The layout of the living spaces is open-concept, with a fireplace and beautifully contrasted mid-toned plank hardwood floors in the living area, granite countertops in the cottage-style kitchen, and off-white cabinetry, walls, and ceiling. A series of sliding glass doors open onto the balcony, and the family room contains floor-to-ceiling built-ins. The exterior rear is defined by shingles, brick, and attached pergolas.
The staircase continues the unassuming Cape cottage look, with simple hardwood treads and baluster, and second-floor bedrooms have open-trussed, vaulted ceilings with tongue-and-groove planking. Throughout, the very white articulation of the house provides a huge amount of reflected natural light. The bedrooms and baths blaze as readily as the common living spaces, with only a little warm toning here and there to pick up where the hardwood leaves off. The master suite features a private balcony, and, in the rear of the room, a private sitting area and office.
The property features 60’ of beach frontage, a beachside fire feature, and an outdoor barbeque.
Krisel was president of Disney’s Television Animation division from 1984-1995, turning it into a powerhouse. He spent nearly 23 year at Disney. In early 1996, he made the switch to Dreamworks SKG.
