MLB home-run king Barry Bonds—who spent sixteen of his twenty-two professional seasons with the Giants—has listed his home in the Bay Area. Bonds is asking $6.6 million for the house in Hillsborough; he purchased the property for $6 million in 2015.

The build dates to 2007. A modern design with Spanish colonial flourishes, it features an exterior defined by a stucco chimney, a tiled roof, an arched, covered entry with a pendant light fixture, and moody earth-toned walls. Ornamental windows in a kiva shape further evoke the charm of the traditional style, but the Italian-style columns which flank the entrance seem oddly out of place.

The interiors are very warm, with plank oak flooring, off-white walls, and a series of arched thresholds giving the home a distinctive softness. Raw wood ceilings and window and French door surrounds, a wrought iron staircase balustrade and handrail, and exposed beams, give the home a rustic veneer that’s just intense enough to be convincing. The master suite is bright and very pleasant, shown to best advantage with its French doors opening to the terrace. There are five bedrooms and 5.5 baths throughout the 5,170 square feet, including guest accommodations.

The property extends to a little less than .6 acre, and manages to squeeze in a good expanse of landscaped green, a courtyard with fireplace and summer kitchen, patios, and stone walls.

Bonds’ career-long home run record still stands. This year he rejoined the Giants organization as an advisor.
