September signals the beginning of autumn, but for many, it’s also notable as the month when Apple hosts its keynote event and unveils its newest creations.
At this year’s keynote event, the tech brand introduced a number of new products, including the Apple Watch Series 3. The biggest change to the smartwatch is the option to purchase a cellular model, which means the watch can run independently of a smartphone.
This is a big move for Apple, which has received criticism for the Apple Watch’s dependency on its sister product, the iPhone. No longer will the watch be considered an iPhone “accessory” since a user’s cellular-enabled watch will use its own cellular data for phone calls and internet.
The look of the updated Apple Watch hasn’t changed significantly, but the internal tech has been updated with a 70-percent faster dual-core processor and a W2 chip; in this case, looks can be a little deceiving. These advancements will make moving from a phone conversation on the iPhone to one on the Apple Watch seamless.
Luxury editions of the Apple Watch Series 3 are available, but the basic cellular model is available starting at $399.
