At the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini will be officially presenting the newest addition to the Aventador model: the Aventador S Roadster. Ahead of the model variant’s formal debut, Lambo has given exotic car enthusiasts a look at the drop-top stunner.

The Roadster isn’t just a convertible version of the model, however. It incorporates many changes to the Aventador’s design, and, together with the Aventador S Coupe, represents the first facelift the model has received since it appeared in 2011.

The Aventador S Roadster’s active rear wing helps address the aerodynamic demands of a passenger car that can hit 217 MPH, improving downforce by an astonishing 130 per-cent. The 6.5L V12 has been tuned to deliver 740 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque, enough to send the car to 62 in three seconds; optional transparent panels allow for a view of the engine.

The carbon-fiber roof panels Lamborghini designed for open-air driving may be stowed in the trunk, and are attached and detached with a quick-fasten system. A power rear window may be raised or lowered regardless of roof mode.

Lamborghini is also offering more extensive personalization options for this newest Aventador; in the last decade, the so-called ‘bespoke’ segment of the high-end car market has given companies like Bentley, Porsche, Rolls Mercedes and Aston a considerable boost in profits by giving customers the ability to express their individual sensibilities in their automobile. Now Lamborghini has followed suit. The Ad Personam program, which launched last summer, offers S Roadster buyers numerous options to make their Lamborghini more unique.

The Aventador S Roadster is base-priced at $460K. Deliveries begin in February.
