Married actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have listed their fin de siècle Brooklyn townhome. The couple has listed the property with an asking price of $8 million; they purchased it in December of 2015, for $6 million, and renovated it extensively—to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars—in the interim.

The French Renaissance revival-style house dates to 1899, and features a limestone exterior with extensive ornamental flourishes. It measures 5,200 square feet, and now contains seven bedrooms and four baths.

Changes to the home have been dramatic. Much of the mahogany paneling and ceiling trim has been painted over, and the color scheme has been altered to a fashionable blazing white, with grey and dark blue used as enhancement. The spectacular wood floors thankfully remain unchanged—plank or parquet, often with magnificent inlay. Dark wood trim, leaded and stained glass, exposed brick and beams, crown moldings, pocket doors and original millwork also hint at the home’s history.

The kitchen received a full renovation, with the addition of a center island, new light fixtures, and radiant-heated floors. Stainless and granite has been replaced by white-and-brass cabinetry and soapstone countertops.

The property’s exterior includes a bluestone patio in the backyard, which may be accessed through the kitchen. There is a second-floor terrace.

Blunt and Krasinski have been hard at work this year on ‘A Quiet Place’; both actors star in the supernatural suspense thriller, which Krasinski directed. The film is due in theaters next spring.
