Johnny Depp has sold the fourth of his five units in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles. The actor’s series purchase on the top floor of the building began in 2007, and continued over the course of several years. In the end, the loft properties represented a single home for him, each having its distinct consolations and novelties of layout and décor. Depp purchased this particular unit in 2008, for $1.18 million.

The building dates to 1930, and features a heavily stylized, art deco façade which makes it an instantly recognizable downtown L.A. landmark. It was modernized in 2007, but the units retain their historical charm.

The unit Depp most recently sold—for $1.82 million—features exposed brick, plumbing and ductwork, a bright tonal execution that blends opposing colors in a pleasingly abrupt manner, and industrial-influenced interior design elements, including a five-landing steel staircase and a kitchen in brushed stainless.

At around 2,000 square feet, the duplex condo is the smallest unit in the series. It features two bedrooms and three baths; the master is a bright, brick-laden room situated on a corner, and bordered by steel-framed windows. It’s an impressive space, but each unit Depp owned in the building was a unique statement in its own right, and collectively the five properties comprised an antidote for a restless soul.

Depp’s career shows no signs of slowing down. He starred in three films released or due to be released this year; Kenneth Branagh’s talent-drenched take on Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express,’ in theaters this November, may be the most interesting of the lot.
