Television executive and producer Cécile Frot-Coutaz has listed her longtime home in Encino. Frot-Coutaz has owned the property for a dozen years, having purchased it in the summer of 2005 for $1.3 million. She has marketed the home with an asking price of $2.05 million.

The mid-century modern dates to 1957, and was designed by James W. Larson. Boxy and transparent, with a very open floor plan and generally neutral toning, the home contains many period details from the atomic age, including a rusticated stone fireplace with an extended raised hearth, accent walls, and geometric motif ornamentation. Updates have been very sensitive to the home’s historic architectural relevance.

The home measures a little less than 3,000 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and three baths. Floors are highly polished cement, and ceilings have been updated with recessed lighting. The home’s glass walls alternate Fleetwood doors with fixed windows, allowing for a sense of both visual continuation and interior/exterior flow.

Renovations to kitchen and baths bear the minimal, Eastern-inflected sensibilities that are currently fashionable, and weather well with the passage of time. The kitchen is island-less, which gives the room an unusual feeling of expanse.

The home’s exterior includes Japanese-inspired landscaping, a saltwater pool, and a covered terrace.

Frot-Coutaz has produced several performing arts competition series, including ‘American Idol’ and ‘The X-Factor.’
