Following hot on the heels of the nimble Evora 400 and 410, Lotus recently unveiled the Evora GT430. The upstart model will be produced as a very limited edition, and is poised to put its elders to shame.

Like its siblings, the new Evora grand tourer takes its numerical designation from its horsepower rating, achieving the number through a supercharged 3.5L V6 engine sourced from Toyota. Like its siblings, the GT430 offers an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio, utilizing a great deal of carbon fiber, as well as a titanium exhaust system, to keep its curb weight down to less than 2,800 pounds. The fleet little machine can get to 60 in 3.7 seconds, and will hit 190 MPH.

The GT430’s aero kit includes a dramatic carbon fiber splitter and rear wing, tailgate, and air blades and louvers. Lotus is championing the airflow and downforce provided by the design; downforce is a substantial 250 kg at higher speeds, providing the stability needed for a lightweight rocket like this one. AP Racing four-piston calipers provide the braking power necessary for the car’s abilities: Lotus claims the GT430 to be the most powerful street-legal car in the exotic automaker’s history.

The GT430 also gets Ohlins adjustable dampers—tuned by Lotus for the specific design demands of the model—as well as Eibach springs. Forged aluminum wheels are wider than those used on the 400 or 410 Evora models. As in the 400 and 410, the car’s response and performance may be adjusted via three preset driving modes—Race, Sport and Drive—which may be bypassed if desired.

The GT430 receives a six-speed manual gearbox. The company does not indicate an automatic transmission is an option.

Lotus is limiting production of the Evora GT430 to just 60 examples. Pricing has not yet been released by the company.
