Former NBC Universal Chair Jeff Gaspin Makes $6.4M in Hidden Hills Mansion Sale

Entertainment executive Jeff Gaspin—former chair of NBC Universal, before joining Primary Wave Entertainment, where he currently serves as president—has accepted an offer of $6.4 million for his 10,500 square foot Hidden Hills residence.

Gaspin purchased the home in the late winter of 2010, for $5.55 million, and listed it about a year ago; price reductions brought the asking to $6.7 million prior to the sale.

A fairly recent build, the home dates to 2008, and is more or less a traditional-style. A Georgian-influenced portico entrance with a quartet of support columns, and a mix of brick, wood and shingles give the façade an impression of respectability, and the double-door entry is capped with a fanlight window as an additional historical referent.

Harlequin tile floors in the foyer and the step-down great room make for an impressive beginning to the home; the concept ceiling in the foyer betrays an emphasis on matters of form. Altogether a palatial ambiance is set, which carries through the rest of the home.

Fireplaces, crown moldings, and wallpaper of varying visual texture keep the emphasis on a pleasing room-to-room changeability. Hardwood floors run through much of the living area, keeping the composition down to earth by adding warmth to the spaces. The hardwood really grounds the large kitchen, giving it a nice context, and making the double-island design feel more intimate.

The home features a formal dining room loaded with competing visuals, a home cinema with tiered seating, a fitness room, and a master suite with a pocket ceiling, fireplace, and private terrace. There are six bedrooms and eight baths between the main residence and detached guest cottage.

The exterior of the property includes a tiered patio with pool and trellised sunlounge, a small pavilion lounge, and landscaping which is understated but quite lush in execution.

In the 1990’s, Gaspin was instrumental in launching ‘Dateline NBC,’ the network’s answer to the CBS ratings giant ‘60 Minutes’; he left NBC in 2010. Gaspin joined broad-spectrum entertainment company Primary Wave as president last year.
