A condo in Westwood’s Grand Westwood building which was the home of Natalie Cole for about a decade has sold. The 3,594 square-foot unit sold for $2.5 million after being on and off the market for nearly a year; it had been listed with a reduced asking price of $2.65 million prior to the sale, and was initially listed in August of last year for $2.995 million.
The apartment is comprised of two original units on the same floor, which were combined under Ms. Cole’s ownership. It contains four bedrooms and four baths, and has been recently renovated and revised; the interiors now emphasize subtle warmth, with a beige palette extending throughout the residence.
Partial walls serve to add visual interest and demarcate, and lighting is mostly recessed, with a crystal chandelier presiding over the formal dining room. Floors are generally highly polished sandstone tile, although the central hall and the office feature plank hardwood.
The home features a large great room, an office with built-in bookcases, a family or media room, and kitchen with breakfast bar, maple cabinetry and stone countertops. Much of the space in the apartment is given over to the great room and the master suite, which contains a large walk-in closet, and a bath with a step-up alcove soaking tub.
The apartment features a pair of terraces with nice views of the city; one extends from the master.
Cole, who passed away in 2015, was one of the most gifted soul, R&B and jazz vocalists of her generation. Her studio recordings include 1991’s smash hit ‘Unforgettable…with Love,’ an homage to her father Nat which went multi-platinum.
