The link to iconic 80’s gothic or sci-fi films, and/or villainy, has been suggested by plenty of murdered-out supercar editions in the recent past. High drama of the dark side is all the rage. And, too, the rapid ascension of carbon fiber to ubiquitous herald of uber-engineering has elevated the overall absence of color to a high-performance symbol. Hence Anderson’s Darth Vader Ferrari, Lamborghini’s Tron Edition Aventador, Pagani and Ferrari Carbon Editions, and on and on.
Still, with all the shadowy rides cruising onto highways, one wondered if, eventually, an automaker or tuner would get around to referencing a certain crime-fighting antihero of revisionary comics, an armor-clad Sartre-reading loner with his own cross to bear and a whole bevy of nifty toys to play vengeance with. How would such a vehicle be presented?
Warsaw-based tuner Auto-Dynamics has made the Batman association overt by naming this Porsche 911 Turbo S special edition the ‘Dark Knight.’ It doesn’t look much like homage beyond its appellation, but it is shadowy, it looks great, and it’s faster’n Meat Loaf on a motorcycle.
With a flat-six engine tuned to almost 700 horsepower, and an aerodynamics kit developed by Auto-Dynamics, the 911 S Turbo revision is more powerful and features more acute airflow; GMG manifolds, a front spoiler, fender and hood vents, an exhaust system from Porsche tuning specialist TechArt, side skirts, a Stinger rear diffuser, an adjustable rear spoiler from Moshammer are all part of the package, and finished in matte black. An Agency Power intake, AWE intercoolers, and IPD pipes are also included with the package.
In keeping with the mysterious nature of the car’s inspiration, Auto-Dynamics isn’t saying much about pricing. But they’ll probably confide in potential customers who wish to contact them.
