When looking for better wrist watches, the gaze is often turned toward Switzerland. But when looking a little further East, timepiece fans will find beautiful Grand Seiko watches from Japan to admire.

This is exactly the case with the new Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGD202 8 Day Power Reserve, finished in 18k rose gold. The SBGD202 is reminiscent of the SBGD001 platinum-cased example that Grand Seiko revealed in 2016, but it features a few aesthetic differences from its predecessor.

Where the SBGD001 was platinum with a white dial, the SBGD202 boasts a rose gold case with a black dial that features gold speckling to create a brown effect.

Powering the SBGD202 is Grand Seiko’s 9R01 Spring Drive movement, which is visible via a sapphire crystal caseback. This movement gives the watch the “8 Day Power Reserve” part of its name, complete with a well of 192 hours after being manually wound. Grand Seiko promises accuracy +/- 0.5 seconds per day and +/- 10 seconds per month.

The SBGD202 measures in at 43mm wide and 13.2mm thick. It is water resistant up to 328 feet and has an anti-reflective-coated, box-shaped sapphire crystal covering the workings of the dial.

Grand Seiko will ask $59,000 for the Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGD202 8 Day Power Reserve, which will be available in September.
