Bicycles may be a convenient form of travel and the answer to clear-conscience urban transport, but, for many users, a bicycle is a bulky thing to store. Especially for walk-up urbanites. Enter the Whippet Bicycle.

The Whippet is a folding bike that has both riding and functionality in mind. The bike was designed by British product engineer and designer Graham Powell, who is also a lifelong cycling enthusiast and saw the market need.

Where the Whippet Bicycle is superior is in how it folds; thanks to Powell’s patent-pending inline retraction design, utilizing a tilt, tuck, and tidy up model instead of the usual hinge method, it’s a simple and quick process. And, there are no tools required for an easy fold.

The Whippet folds into a third of its size, and uses oval tubing for sturdiness. And frame, wheels, chains, gears, a seat, stem, brakes, and handlebars only come to about 23 pounds. Essentially, it’s not missing any key features but is also easy to lift, carry, and store.

The Whippet Bicycle is currently available for $3,500.
