Legendary screen producer and music-industry manager Jerry Weintraub’s estate has resurfaced on the market, with an adjusted asking price. The late impresario’s home is now offered at $19.995 million; it was initially listed in early 2016, for a shadow under $25 million, before being reduced a first time last September, to $22.5 million. Weintraub and his wife, Jane Morgan, purchased the place in 1976, for $300K.
Weintraub and Morgan had called the estate home from 1991 until his death, in 2015, at age 77. Last winter, his striking Palm Desert home—in the Bighorn golf community—was also listed for sale, at $16 million; it was reduced about ten months later to $12 million, and remains for sale.
The Beverly Hills house is a contemporary, renovated in 2006. The property includes a detached guest house, for a total of six bedrooms amid 7,618 square feet of interior living space; the main house measures 7,137 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and nine baths.
The house contains a few surprises, including a media/entertainment room with a pocketed, highlighted ceiling, an art deco-inspired powder room, and a creatively laid-out office. The harder contemporary angles are frequently relieved by a soft, curving embellishment, as in the media-room ceiling, the kitchen island, and the rounded foyer.
The house sits on a little more than one acre of land, and the renovation included changes to the property exterior, including a fountain, and some artful landscape sculpting. The guesthouse measures about 450 square feet, with a eucalyptus grove and tennis court behind.
Weintraub managed tours for musical acts as varied as Elvis, The Carpenters, Sinatra, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan. His film productions include the ‘Ocean’s…’ franchise, and the ‘Karate Kid’ film series from the 1980’s and early 90’s.
