Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is marketing his condo in One Brooklyn Bridge Park. The entrepreneur and open-internet advocate is asking $2.2 million for the unit in the desirable building, a converted warehouse at 360 Furman Street. Ohanian purchased the condo in 2011 for about $1.2 million.
The condo measures 1,385 square feet, and contains a pair of bedrooms and a pair of baths. The spaces are large and bright, and feature 13’ ceilings and a great deal of glass; windows are steel-framed, simple designs that highlight the building’s industrial history. Floors are hardwood, finished natural, giving the spaces a little natural texture.
Overall, the interiors are loft-inspired. The layout is generally open; there’s a good sense of liberation throughout, and the unpretentious design elements, which are pleasingly airy, augment the relaxed mood.
The kitchen is inspired by Tokyo apartment design, managing a great deal in a small space without looking terribly cramped; a lack of more ponderous surfaces helps—there is no stainless to cool down and gentrify. As a result, the effect is playful, but not frivolous.
The en-suite bedrooms are pretty compact, and would seem tight if not for the view of the waterfront offered by the abundant glass. Baths are very contemporary, with vessel sinks, tile, and soaking tubs.
Alexis Ohanian co-founded Reddit; more recently, he’s been involved in tech investing via Initialized Capital, which he co-founded. Ohanian and tennis champion Serena Williams became engaged in December.
Over the course of her stellar career, Williams has won an Open-era-record 23 women’s singles Grand Slam titles—and counting. She may be the greatest player to ever grace a tennis court—the record speaks for itself. That being said, one cannot talk about tennis greatness without bowing to the legendary Esther Vergeer.
