In the past several years, quite a few smart home locks have hit the market, offering a number of unique features. However, the Friday Smart Lock offers customers a more useful, and much more stylish take on the hot smart home accessory.

It should come as no surprise that the sleek design comes by way of an architectural firm. In fact, it was dreamed up by the same firm responsible for both Hyperloop One and Google’s new headquarters: Danish architects of Bjarke Ingels Group.

Dubbed the “world’s smallest retrofit lock,” the Friday Lock is installed with a Universal Baseplate mount, which fits easily into existing lock cavities. This means that a locksmith is usually not necessary for installation, saving time and expense.

Featuring a small 2.7-inch diameter footprint, the lock is remarkably elegant with a tapered and ribbed turn handle. It also comes in a variety of finishes, including nickel satin, porcelain, gun metal, brass, silver, bronze, and copper.

Complete with a rechargeable lithium battery and Apple Homekit-supported app, the Friday Lock is available to preorder for $249.
