The Monica Förster Design Studio has continued its collaboration efforts with Bosnian furniture manufacturer Zanat for the duo’s new Beyond Black line, which blends Sami spiritualism and Bosnian craftsmanship, and gives the combination a contemporary twist.
Using traditional Bosnian carved wood and Sami-inspired pewter in conjunction isn’t a usual look, so the result is completely unique; it instills curiosity, and that’s the reason this new Beyond Black collab collection is so cool.
“I sometimes say that I’m not interested in form, but that may not be entirely true,” Förster said about the project. “What I mean is simply that the idea behind each project is more important. When the idea is set I focus on shape, color and detail.” Form arises out of idea, instead of idea arising out of form.
Förster has been a figure in the fashion and design world for a long time now, with the Swedish-based designer having completed works with the likes of Volvo CE, Whirlpool, Poltrona Frau, and many others.
