Jane Fonda’s new Century City townhouse ran the actress a little less than $5.5 million. The gated community—called the Enclave at Century Woods—is a cluster of only ten units of 5,700 to 6,700 square feet, and has attracted numerous high-profile buyers. Fonda purchased the last available unit in the development, which was only recently completed.

The townhouse Fonda purchased measures a little over 5,700 square feet, and features balcony, patio, and several sets of French doors. The interiors are an artful blend of historical and contemporary sensibilities, with Spanish-style design elements and wide-plank hardwood floors, and a modern sense of flow and expanse. Ornament is kept to a minimum—a wrought-iron staircase baluster and rail, and the softening influence of arches, but the fireplace mantel is decidedly stoic, and lighting is generally recessed; nary a chandelier.

Amenities include a nicely proportioned kitchen with custom cabinetry and butler’s pantry, office, and elevator. There are four bedrooms and seven baths, including staff quarters. The master suite features a vaulted ceiling, and balcony accessible via French doors.

The building’s exterior is a little more evocative, with ornamental windows and lantern light fixtures, and traditional semicircular tiled roof. Mainly Spanish and Contemporary, with a little deco tossed in for flavor. There is a central courtyard for all residences, with water and fire features.

Oscar-winning actress Fonda took home a best actress statue for her work in Pakula’s streetwise ‘Klute,’ and Ashby’s searching ‘Coming Home.’ She’s also had a chance to work with Martin Ritt, Jean-Luc Godard, and Edward Dmytryk, among many others. She is currently at work on ‘Our Souls at Night,’ which also stars Robert Redford.
