British designer Tom Dixon is gearing up to launch a number of new lighting pieces at the upcoming Milan Design Week 2017, which kicks off during the first week of April.

Dixon will debut Cut, a unit that casts a kaleidoscope-like reflection of light across a room when it is switched on. Cut will come in surface or pendant lighting options, with the former designed for a wall or ceiling, not a table top. When turned off, Cut is almost opaque, acting as a piece of art.

Next on Dixon’s reveal list is Tube, a cylindrical fixture in either a floor lamp or pendant lighting option. It features an ultra-modern, laser-cut perforated exterior that emits what Dixon’s studio has called “futuristic optics.”

Dixon will also freshen up his Melt range while in Milan, with the Melt Surface now considerably flatter than what is currently offered for sale. Melt is made from half-metalized glass globes and is intended for use on a wall, ceiling, or floor.

Dixon’s current creations, including a new textile line, will be on display at his Multiplex exhibition, which will take place in a 1950s-era, 840-seat movie theater. Food and drinks, including gelato served in handmade ceramic cones, will also be offered at this stunning exhibit.
