Ferrari Releases First Official Video for the Magnificent 812 Superfast

Another look at the Ferrari 812 Superfast, and this time via video: as the quickest production car Ferrari has ever built, it’s interesting to see it in action, even if only through the lens of a Superslick bit of advertising.

‘Superfast’ may sound like supercar hyperbole at first, but it’s actually a revival of the company’s 1960’s Ferrari America model, the 500 Superfast. So its name is Ferrari self-homage, yes, but it’s also styled more than a little like an American ‘fastback’ car: the Ferrari Superfastback, if you will.

The 812’s 6.5L V12 may be Ferrari’s final naturally aspirated production engine. If it is, Ferrari is seeing non-charged IC engine design off with a bang, not a whimper: the Superfast’s top speed is a mercurial 211MPH, and the car can make the trip from 0-60 in less than three seconds. So, the Superfast earns its distinction as the quickest production model of the company’s storied history building very fast cars, and it’s fitting that it has been linked by appellation to a piece of Ferrari America history. The transmission may be a seven-speed dual clutch, not a manual, but allowances sometimes have to be made for innovation: the gearbox boasts even faster shift times than the F12berlinetta, the 812’s direct progenitor, which were said to be nearly imperceptible. The 812’s horsepower represents a 10% increase over the F12.

But have a look at the video. Whether you’re curious about Ferrari advertising in 2017, or the 812 Superfast itself, it’s worth checking out.
