How do you stay connected while protecting your brain pan during daring feats of ridiculousness?
UNIT 1 has come out with the answer for helmet-wearing extreme sports enthusiasts with its new SOUNDSHIELD, a helmet that integrates over-the-ear wireless headphones seamlessly.
The SOUNDSHIELD allows skiers, snowboarders, bikers, skateboarders, and bladers to listen to music and take calls without having to deal with tangling wires or bulky headphones that make wearing a helmet uncomfortable.
The SOUNDSHIELD over-the-ear headphones can also detach from the helmet to be used as an everyday rechargeable headphone option.
UNIT 1 gave the SOUNDSHIELD headphones an easy-to-manage interface, with a simple button and volume dial, so the wearer can have complete control over the device while on the move–even through the thick gloves worn for extreme winter sports.
SOUNDSHIELD’s headphones stream music and audio via Bluetooth for up to 16 hours on a single charge.
The helmet portion of the SOUNDSHIELD device is comfortable, too, utilizing EPS foam that adapts to different head shapes, and ventilation cuts specially designed to make sure the hep-helmet doesn’t get too hot while the wearer is on the move.
Denver-based UNIT 1 has raised a little over half of its $50,000 goal on Indiegogo, with offers for discounted SOUNDSHIELD helmet/headphones still available. When it hits retail, SOUNDSHIELD is slated to have a $299 price tag.
