Rena Sofer and Sanford Bookstaver have listed their Sherman Oaks home for sale. The couple is asking $2.649 million for the property, which they purchased in 2004 for $1.8 million.

The house—a modernist design dating to 1957—measures 5,000 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. The lot measures about three quarters of an acre.

The exterior of the home is imposing and graceful by turns; a blend of soft curves and hard angles, glass and whitewash. The interior is bright and open, with hardwood adding warmth and texture to the ethereal mood. The home features a corner wall living room fireplace set into a vertical stacked slate mantle, and a second fireplace—minimal, in marble—in the den; a third fireplace warms things up in the master bath.

The home’s series of levels and intersecting planes, and use of stone and wood, make it a classic modernist amalgam of geometry and poetry. A dining room chandelier accents the home’s lines, while all the glass opens onto the landscape surrounding the home. It’s a style of home design that continues to appeal as relevant.

The property exterior includes a pergola, lounge area with pool and spa, and a fire pit and seating area, with views of the canyon.

Actor Rena Sofer has appeared in numerous television programs. She currently plays the role of Quinn Fuller in ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’

Sanford Bookstaver’s directorial credits include episodes of ‘Power,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’
