Actor Ty Burrell, best known as the paternal, wisecracking real-estate agent Phil Dunphy on ABC’s hit sitcom ‘Modern Family,’ recently forked over $4.2 million to get his hands on a renovated, late 1920s-built Spanish Colonial Revival in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Measuring in at 3,200 square feet, the home features an architectural design from famed California architect Gerard Colcord, and contains four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The Spanish-style exterior opens up to an entrance hall and stair gallery; plentiful terra-cotta tile and rounded arches set the tone, and the cozy living room with fireplace offers an expansive perspective. Another beautiful feature of the space is the master bedroom, which includes a dressing area, a renovated bathroom with a freestanding soaking tub and black-and-white tile flooring, a sun porch, and a second balcony that holds city views.
Burrell and his wife, Holly, are currently offloading their two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse unit in the Culver Centrale building in Culver City, not too far from his new home. It was listed just below $1.4 million, but the unit is currently in escrow for an unknown price. The couple also maintains a home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Burrell owns a gastropub concisely dubbed Beer Bar.
Burrell has won two Emmys for his work on ‘Modern Family.’ Recently he served as the voice for Bailey the Beluga whale in ‘Finding Dory,’ and he is set to make another silver screen appearance this summer, in the film ‘Rock That Body.’
