LaMarcus Aldridge purchased this Spanish Revival-style in Newport Coast last summer for $7 million; he recently passed it on to a new owner for $8.35 million. The gated property, which rests on about half an acre on a cul-de-sac in Crystal Cove, was initially listed in October for $8.9 million. It went under contract in December.

With a façade incorporating porch supports and second-floor terrace, wrought iron balconies, a turret incorporated into the home’s rear, and an interior filled with the softly rounded arches characteristic of the design, the 2008 construction is evocative of 1920’s Southern California without being terribly heavy-handed. Exposed beams, limestone fireplaces, and softly warm-tinted off-white walls all add to the comfortable, rambling quality of the interiors.

A kitchen with large, curving marble breakfast bar, sandstone tile floors, and open, wrought iron staircase round out the evocative design. Lighting fixtures enhance the style, and sets of French doors on both floors fluidly bridge interior and exterior, and offer views of the ocean in the near distance.

The home measures 6,832 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and six baths. Amenities include a media room, fitness room with sauna, and a master suite with fireplace; the lengthy master bath, in mocha-toned marble, has its own balcony overlooking the Pacific. The property exterior offers its new owner patios, landscaped semi-tropical gardens, and a pool/spa with tile border.

In 2015, power forward LaMarcus Aldridge signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs. He currently hangs his hat in a 7,400 square foot home in Shavano Park, a suburb of San Antonio.
