A new way of commuting (or riding around for pleasure) has been brought to the masses thanks to the CycleBoard, which is part skateboard, part scooter, part Segway.

CycleBoard has a lean-to-steer technology and control system, sort of like a Segway, but the rider stands on a deck that is clearly modeled after a longboard skate board and even offers a rear third wheel, making it look much like a scooter on the first glance.

The CycleBoard has the ability to reach speeds of up to 20 mph and offers a range of either 15 to 25 mph depending on the lithium-ion battery type chosen.

The CycleBoard is also easy to fold and store and only weighs about 40 pounds, making it just light enough to manage for short stretches when storing the device.

Street surfing with the CycleBoard is made possible with a throttle attached to the handlebars steering the aircraft-grade aluminum frame. Handlebar height is adjustable from 30 to 44 inches off the ground on the upgraded Elite model, and it stands at 40 inches on the Trail and Sport CycleBoard models.

In the United States, the CycleBoard does not require a driver’s license to operate, making it a perfect daily commuting option in a big city. The Trail model is ideal for off-road, well, trails with a deck and tires geared more toward traction than the Elite and Sport versions.

Prices of the CycleBoard range from $999 to $1,699, depending on the model and battery pack chosen.
