Swiss watchmaker Chopard has created a new minute-repeater dubbed the L.U.C. Full Strike, and it might just be the best-sounding repeater brought to the luxury timepiece market in the last decade.

Using gongs made of sapphire and crafted out of the same piece that creates the upper crystal of the watch itself, the Full Strike creates a sound much more resonant than that of typical metal gonged repeaters. Chopard has also reduced the amount of tuning and tweaking that is usually necessary by using the crystal instead of metal.

The sapphire crystal gongs also allowed Chopard to use its tried and tested L.U.C. movement that has been featured in the Swiss brand’s watches for 20 years.

Chopard created an elaborate maze of safety features for the Full Strike, which shields the movement and streamlines the operation of the strike mechanism. All of the Swiss brand’s work is visible via the openwork format of the timepiece.

Thanks to the originality and the unique skills it takes to build the Full Strike, it might become the most collectible watch Chopard has ever manufactured.
