Mercedes-Benz has divulged info on its next-generation E-Class Coupe before it officially makes its debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

The newest two-door model from Mercedes-Benz offers a similar face, featuring the same wide-grille, large air vents, and long, strong-looking hood as the C-Class and S-Class Coupe offerings.

The rear of the new E-Class Coupe also carries a similar aesthetic from the C-Class and S-Class versions, including horizontal taillights and a spoiler that is worked into the design of the trunk lid.

Mercedes did give the E-Class coupe a more streamlined and sportier looking roof, and the overall result is an E-Class Coupe that is leaner and meaner than the German auto giant has ever created.

The E-Class Coupe looks a lot like an E-Class sedan model in the inside, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that comes standard and an option to add a second screen that does away with the usual instrument cluster.

When combined, the two displays lie under a single panel of glass and cover about half of the dashboard. Both can be controlled by either smartphone-like surfaces on the steering wheel, a controller knob on the center console, or voice-commands.

The E-Class Coupe will also boast features such as semi-autonomous Distance Pilot Distronic and active brake assist.

Powering the E-Class Coupe is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that pumps out 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive will come standard with the model, with the option of adding Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Specs show that the E-Class Coupe can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz will bring the 2018 E-Class Coupe to the existing lineup a short while after it makes its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, with pricing information coming just before its official on-sale date.
