Metaxas & Sins has taken its popular dual-mono Marquis preamplifier and given it a makeover of sorts. The new Memento Mori Preamp/headphone amp comes in the form of a realistic-looking human skull.

Literally playing off of the latin phrasing for a skull or the signal of death, the Memento Mori Preamp has been created for seekers of pure audio instead of the ever-present trend of more functions than a user can know what to do with.

Audio wise, the Marquis Memento Mori offers specs that feature a DC frequency response of 5 MHz, a voltage output of 15 V RMS per channel into 50 Ohms, a signal-to-noise ratio of -117dBV, a sensitivity of 26 dB, and an input impedance of 100 kOhms.

The Memento Mori comes with a battery supply built into the base to help protect low-level signal stages from interference. There is also another battery pack option that is available for up to 5 hours per charge.

There are 10 bead-blasted finishes available with prices for the preamp ranging from $4,950 to $13,500 depending on the design and finish style chosen.
