The enfant terrible of the exotic car market is growing up quickly.

McLaren Automotive, the U.K. company launched in 1963 as Bruce McLaren Motor Racing, began their entry into the commercial market in 2011. The Bruce McLaren M1B schooled Porsche in the mid-sixties Can-Am, and McLaren Automotive is now looking to put other exotic car manufacturers on the run in the contemporary street-legal marketplace.

Hence the carbon-fiber, twin-turbocharged, 562HP V8 570S, and hence its new packaging of style and design features, which will make the McLaren more appealing to the purchaser kicking tires of $150K+ autos. Adding around $10K to the base price, the five design/style editions are intended to appeal to certain demographics within that group, with alternate color and option blends. Each of the packages is a money-saving list of options which, ordered individually, would cost much more; sort of a grand prix prix fixe, if you will, and a quick fix for the wealthy speedster who doesn’t want to think about how and why his brake calipers contrast evocatively with the finish of his exhaust pipes.

They know exactly what they’re doing at McLaren Automotive, especially with their already competitive pricing in the exoticar market: the 570S has a base price set at around $187K. Considering that it has a 0-62MPH time of 3.2 seconds, will hit 124MPH in less than 10, and has a top speed reported to be 204MPH, the 570S is already a very attractive option at its price point.  Its new finish and option packages will only make it more attractive still.
