Donkervoort offered a limited sneak peek of its D8-GTO series with the S, RS, and R models at the start of 2016 and announced a production plan for the car lineup by the end of this year. Now the Dutch automaker has unveiled one example in the trio before its fall release, the D8 GTO-RS.

The same GTO-RS model shocked the car world in the mid-2000s when it set the lap time record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in both 2004 and 2006. The new D8 GTO-RS has been completely revamped in both design and powertrain to make it bigger, faster, and meaner than ever before.

The Audi 2.5i R5 TFSI engine powering the D8 GTO-RS has been tweaked thanks to Donkervoort’s longtime partner Bosch to adjust the performance and comfort of the ride in the vehicle. Working with Bosch, Donkervoort also gave the GTO-RS features like launch control and a double-clutch function.

Donkervoort also added a brand new braking system to the GTO-RS to help slow the beast down in the corners. The upgrades on the D8 GTO-RS can be seen everywhere, even the interior of the street-legal track giant has been refined while remaining tailor-made.

Donkervoort is slated to make only 40 examples of the D8 GTO-RS, with the car called the lightest and fastest the Dutch brand has ever built.
