Last year’s BMW Concept 101 has already landed as a production model for the German brand’s next lineup in the form of the new K1600 B.
Powering the K1600 B is the same inline six-cylinder engine as the K1600 GTL that pumps out 160 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. When the engine first came onto the scene, BMW called the powerplant the slimmest six-cylinder ever to be mass-produced for a motorbike.
Unlike the rest of BMW’s K1600 range, the B has a more sleek and contemporary aesthetic with the same low rear frame and taillights that have earned a “U.S.-American” look. The elongated frame of the Concept 101 can be clearly seen in the K1600 B, but the wood-paneling on the concept has been ditched for the production edition.
BMW designed the bagger-style K1600 B to handle the long and winding freeways and highways of America with ease, all while maintaining an optimum level of comfort. The wind deflectors are stretched out further back, and the windscreen is adjustable to prevent any buffeting for the rider.
The K1600 B has been given standard adaptive dampening, BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro system that allows for clutch-free shifts, and a reverse assist operation that makes the larger motorcycle easier to back into and out of spaces.
BMW will make the K1600 B available beginning in the middle of 2017. Pricing information has yet to be released.
