Renault chose the 2016 Paris Motor Show to take its design trends to a different level with their new Trezor concept, a lean and mean electric sports car boasting a racing-sourced powertrain.

The French automaker has a history of creating concepts that set the tone for the styling of its production models for years to come. In 2010 its DeZir concept carried design elements that can still be seen in current Renault models. And much like the DeZir concept, the Trezor will not become a production model.

Renault’s Trezor takes on a usual sports car look with a wide and low stance with a long nose and a cabin that is pushed back in the lines of the car.

Powering the Trezor is an electric motor boosted by a regenerative braking system featuring much of the same hardware as Renault’s Formula E race cars. This motor makes 350 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

Thanks to the aerodynamics, carbon-fiber passenger shells on a tubular steel frame, and the above-mentioned powertrain, the Trezor can make the zero-to-62 mph sprint in under four seconds.

The interior comes with a two-seat cockpit accessed via the roof—that’s right. No doors here. The dashboard is actually a large, curved OLED display made out of Gorilla Glass, which controls almost every aspect to driving and riding in the car.

Renault also gave the Trezor autonomous driving capabilities, which is an aspect the company plans to make available on its production models beginning in 2020. Renault fans will have to wait and see when it comes to the other cues that will be taken from the Trezor concept.
