Mathieu Lehanneur took the Carpenters Workshop Gallery at the London Design Festival by storm with a new series called “Spring” in which he showed off his newest pieces using his liquid marble technique.
The medium for Lehanneur’s “Spring” collection are tables, which offer a blending of the three states of matter, as you’ll recall from high school science classes: gaseous, liquid, and solid.
Lehanneur even utilized 3D special effects software that is used in the movie industry to help create pieces in his installation like the “Liquid Aluminum” and “Liquid Marble” tables. These pieces feature hand-polished marble and aluminum that appear to be in a liquid state and frozen in time, covered by a glass surface that allows a view of the unique surface of the tables.
“A piece becomes beautiful when we do not need to question the innovation,” Lehanneur said of his new collection. “I also like to say that they are the works of their time and that they could not have been created before today, due to the technologies or the available processes.”
